Terms of Service

Plain terms for a research tool. The most important part is section 3 — what a report is not — so please read that one even if you skip the rest.

Effective July 24, 2026 · BeforeYouBuy Homes, Inc.

1. The agreement

These terms are between you and BeforeYouBuy Homes, Inc. ("we", "us"). By creating an account, generating a report, or paying for a plan, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service. You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract.

2. What we provide

We assemble information about a US residential address from public and public-agency sources — county assessor and recorder records, municipal permit portals, FEMA flood maps, EPA and Census datasets, FBI crime statistics, state education data and similar — and present it as a single report with an overall DOMI Score.

Coverage is uneven because the underlying governments publish unevenly. Where we have no source for a field, the report says so instead of filling the gap. That is a deliberate product decision, not a defect, and it is not grounds for a claim that the report was incomplete. Our methodology page explains what is covered where.

3. What a report is not

  • Not a home inspection. Nobody visits the property. We cannot tell you about the roof, the foundation, the wiring or anything else that requires eyes on the building. Hire a licensed inspector.
  • Not an appraisal. Value figures are estimates derived from public records and models. They are not prepared by a licensed appraiser and no lender will accept one.
  • Not an insurance quote. Insurance costs shown are formula estimates. Only a carrier can quote you.
  • Not a title search, survey, or legal opinion.
  • Not a consumer report, and not for tenant screening, employment, credit or insurance-underwriting decisions about a person. See our FCRA Notice — this restriction is binding on you.
  • Not financial, legal or real-estate advice. We are not your agent, broker, lawyer or advisor.

Use a report as one input among several. Verify anything that matters to your decision against the primary source before you rely on it.

4. Accounts

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to your email secure. Tell us at hello@beforeyoubuy.homes if you believe someone else is using it.

5. Plans and payment

These are the only plans. There is no trial, team plan, API tier or enterprise edition.

  • 3 Free ReportsFree with email signup. No card required. 3 full reports.
  • Single Report$4.99 once. One report, viewable for 30 days.
  • 10 Reports$19.99 once. 10 reports, usable within 90 days.
  • Unlimited$49 per month, recurring. Unlimited reports while the subscription is active.

Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax we are required to collect. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see your card number. The Unlimited plan renews automatically each month at the then-current price until you cancel, and we will email you at least 14 days before any price change to a subscription you hold.

6. Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel a subscription at any time from your dashboard, which opens the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate part-months.

Reports are digital goods delivered immediately, so one-time purchases are generally final. We will refund you if a report you paid for failed to generate, or if it contains a material error we can trace to our processing rather than to the public record. Ask within 14 days at hello@beforeyoubuy.homes and tell us the address and the field. Statutory refund rights in your state or country are not affected by this paragraph.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • scrape, crawl, bulk-download or otherwise systematically extract reports or data from the service;
  • resell, sublicense or redistribute reports as your own product or data feed;
  • use the service to make a decision about a person's eligibility for housing, credit, employment or insurance;
  • use it to harass, stalk or profile an occupant, or to compile information about individuals;
  • circumvent report limits, rate limits or paywalls, or share account credentials; or
  • interfere with the service or attempt to access systems or data you were not given.

The in-report assistant answers questions about the property and the product. Attempts to repurpose it as a general-purpose chatbot will be declined.

8. Ownership

The underlying public records are not ours and are not covered by copyright we could claim. The report layout, the DOMI Score methodology, the site and the software are ours. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the reports you have paid for, including sharing an individual report with your agent, lender or family in the course of the transaction it concerns.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the data is accurate, current or complete — much of it is republished from third-party government systems that lag, get revised, and sometimes contain errors we cannot see. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunity, or the outcome of a property transaction. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.

Some states do not allow these exclusions, and nothing here limits liability for fraud or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

11. Indemnity

You will indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the service in breach of these terms, including any use of a report for a purpose section 3 or section 7 prohibits.

12. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account. We can suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and will refund the unused portion of a prepaid plan unless the breach involved fraud or abuse.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and we each consent to that jurisdiction. Before filing anything, please email hello@beforeyoubuy.homes — most problems are cheaper to fix than to litigate.

14. Changes

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top changes when we do, and material changes are emailed to account holders before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
